Mayawati appeals to parties to be constructive during monsoon session of Parliament

On the eve of the crucial monsoon session of Parliament, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo and former Uttar Pradesh chief minister Mayawati urged political parties to have constructive discussions rather than disruptions, especially as the country faces several problems.

Raising the issues of inflation, unemployment, poverty, theft of Ram temple offerings, examination paper leaks, and war, Mayawati said here on Sunday, “It is happening, once again the country and the common people are worried whether this time too the Parliament session will fall prey to uproar, adjournments, etc., or whether seriousness will be shown in calming down the angry and agitated atmosphere created by the burning issues of the country—related to massive inflation, poverty, unemployment, women’s insecurity, paper leaks of important examinations, etc.—and in finding a satisfactory solution to them?”
“However, widespread public outrage over theft, misappropriation and embezzlement of offerings, especially at the Ayodhya Shri Ram Temple, has shaken Uttar Pradesh and the country. People are holding those who politicised religion for electoral gains accountable and demanding accountability from them for the hurt caused, which is resonating from the streets to the courts. This issue will surely heat up in Parliament as well, which is also being keenly watched by the people.”

“Not only this, but the situation after the general assembly elections in Bengal, the deaths of pregnant women in Rajasthan due to government negligence, the increasing insecurity of women in various states, the massive irregularities in the hasty election campaigns, the notorious corruption in government schemes, the prevalence of police encounters, the demolition of colonies settled there for years, etc., along with the erosion of the Constitution’s public welfare system by such government attitudes,” the BSP chief said, adding that the continuous war of America and Israel against Iran and the devaluation of the rupee, which severely affect the Indian economy and the lives of the people here, are such important issues of national and public interest on which both the ruling and Opposition parties must unite and find a good solution by abandoning the narrowness of political hatred, self-interest and accusations and counter-accusations.
“Otherwise, the lives of the Bahujans in our country with a population of approximately 1.4 billion will become even more dire, leaving their future hanging in the balance, which is also feared,” she added.

Mayawati further said, “Therefore, keeping in mind these huge challenges plaguing the country and the warnings against them, it should be ensured that the Monsoon Session of Parliament runs smoothly, peacefully and in accordance with healthy democratic traditions, without any provocation, anger or animosity, which also becomes everyone’s responsibility given the current needs of the time”.

“Moreover, in this regard, all institutions must make such efforts that the burden of life and the daily problems/difficulties of Indians suffering from the difficult social, political and economic conditions of the country do not increase further. In this context, Parliament also needs to be completely serious and sensitive about these burning national issues, and if this begins with the current Gagangan of Parliament, then the problem will be solved.
